Kapil Dev की दो टूक - 'ये team अभी पूरी तरह gel नहीं हुई', England को 51 percent edge दिया

Kapil Dev कभी घुमा-फिराकर बात नहीं करते। Lord's decider से पहले उन्होंने India की team के बारे में जो कहा, वो सीधा और साफ था।

क्या कहा

IANS को दिए interview में (18 July को प्रकाशित) Kapil ने दोनों teams को लगभग बराबर बताया, लेकिन England को हल्की बढ़त दी:

"I think both teams are 50-50 at the moment. Since England are playing at home, you can say they have a slight edge, maybe 51 percent."

फिर उन्होंने असली बात कही:

"Looking at the way our team has performed in the T20Is and so far in the ODI series, I don't think the team has gelled completely yet. If this Indian side starts clicking as a unit, I would even give them a 60 percent chance."

इस बात का मतलब क्या है

Kapil की बात में एक अहम बारीकी है जो miss हो सकती है।

उन्होंने ये नहीं कहा कि India की team कमज़ोर है। उन्होंने कहा कि team "gel" नहीं हुई - यानी individual talent है, लेकिन एक unit की तरह अभी click नहीं कर रही।

और ये बात आंकड़ों से मेल खाती है। T20I series में 0-4 की हार। ODI series में Edgbaston में शानदार जीत, फिर Cardiff में 233 पर सिमटना।

Consistency की कमी. यही Kapil का point है।

"60 percent" वाली बात

ध्यान दीजिए कि Kapil ने criticism के साथ एक बड़ी तारीफ भी छिपा रखी है।

अगर ये team unit की तरह click कर जाए तो वो India को 60 percent chance देंगे - यानी England से भी ऊपर, England के घर में।

मतलब उन्हें talent पर शक नहीं है। शक execution और combination पर है।

Captaincy पर सवाल

जब Shubman Gill की captaincy के बारे में पूछा गया तो Kapil ने कोई विवाद खड़ा नहीं किया:

"That is up to the cricket board and the selection committee. I think he has done a fairly good job, and I wish him all the best."

"Fairly good job" - Kapil की भाषा में ये तारीफ है। उन्होंने ये फैसला board पर छोड़ दिया, जो सही भी है।

Rohit के लिए

Kapil ने Rohit Sharma के career को celebrate करने की बात भी कही, उन अफवाहों के बीच जो उनके संन्यास को लेकर चल रही हैं।

एक ऐसे player से आने वाली ये बात मायने रखती है जिसने खुद India को 1983 World Cup जिताया था और जो जानता है कि career का आखिरी दौर कैसा होता है।

Kapil क्यों सुने जाते हैं

Kapil Dev की राय का वज़न इसलिए है क्योंकि वो कभी politically correct बनने की कोशिश नहीं करते।

उन्होंने England को edge दिया - जो एक Indian legend के लिए popular बात नहीं है। उन्होंने अपनी team की कमी बताई। और फिर भी उम्मीद जताई।

यही असली cricket analysis है. Fan वाली नहीं, ईमानदार.

कल Lord's में पता चलेगा कि Kapil का 51-49 वाला आकलन सही बैठता है या India उन्हें गलत साबित करती है.
